Embedded Engineering Across a Modern Trading Platform

Case Studies

TDS provides embedded engineering teams to a US-headquartered prime-brokerage and capital-markets fintech, working inside the client’s own delivery squads across its trading and back-office platform.

Rather than operating at arm’s length, TDS consultants sit within the client’s engineering organisation, owning features end to end and setting technical standards from within.

The Challenge

The client operates a fast-growing, cloud-native capital-markets platform and a deliberately high-velocity engineering culture: continuous deployment, small and frequent releases, and a strong preference for visible, incremental progress over long planning and QA cycles. Delivering effectively in this environment demands engineers who can add value immediately, work productively with minimal formal requirements, and maintain rigour and quality while moving at pace.

The client also runs an increasingly AI-augmented engineering model, including a dedicated internal team applying AI to its execution-management systems, requiring consultants fluent in an AI-first way of working. TDS was asked to supply senior engineering capability across a broad technical surface (front-end, back-end services and low-latency infrastructure) and to help raise the engineering bar across mixed client and consultant teams.

Solution and Implementation

Strategic Approach

TDS embedded a multi-disciplinary team directly into the client’s delivery squads, matching the client’s operating rhythm (deploying little and often, keeping changes small and demonstrable) without compromising engineering standards. The team contributed across four areas.

The team contributed across four areas:

  • Front-end and platform:Development within a micro-frontend React architecture, and migration of a legacy Next.js application to federated React modules.
  • Trading and back-office services:Full software-development-lifecycle ownership of deposits-automation and cash-sweep initiatives on the core platform, from analysis through to delivery.
  • Low-latency infrastructure (Rust):. Domain-model code generation, and the build-out of a FIX gateway control service and an Aeron-based transport layer, foundational components for reliable, high-performance market connectivity.
  • AI-augmented delivery: A TDS engineer embedded within the client’s internal execution-management-system AI team, with the wider team adapting its delivery practices (small, continuously shipped increments) to operate naturally inside the client’s AI-driven engineering model.

Key Deliverables

  • Embedded, senior engineering capability across React, Java and Rust
  • Delivered deposits-automation and cash-sweep capability on the trading/back-office platform
  • A FIX gateway control service and Aeron transport layer for market connectivity
  • Migration of a legacy Next.js application toward a federated React architecture
  • Contribution to the client’s internal AI / execution-management engineering initiative

Results and Outcomes

  • Dependable delivery under ambiguity: TDS engineers are trusted with full ownership of critical trading and back-office workflows, delivering consistently regardless of shifting requirements or timelines.
  • A raised engineering bar across the account:, with TDS lifted lifting technical best practice and engineering standards across mixed client and consultant teams.
  • Breadth from a single partner: React, Java, Rust and AI-augmented capability supplied and coordinated together, reducing the client’s management overhead.
  • A trusted, embedded presence that extends into the client’s strategic AI initiatives, positioning TDS as a long-term engineering partner in a demanding, high-growth capital-markets environment.
